For an Iron Blight progression blocker, first match the current objective to the key or tool in your inventory, then check the specific interaction below. Install the October 17 update before retesting apartment loading, controller input or Clay Pigeon. Prasnova quick save/load was removed in that release, so a missing quicksave action is different from a broken door.
October 17 issues and their current status
| Symptom | Developer status | Next player check |
|---|---|---|
| Character spawns sideways in Prasnova Apartments | Potential fix | Update, note the loaded checkpoint and test that existing checkpoint again. |
| Mutant pushes you outside the map | Potential fix | Record the enemy, door or wall and whether it happens after loading. |
| Zombie clips through a rotating door | Potential fix | Clear the doorway before testing; capture the door state if it repeats. |
| Clay Pigeon fails to award | Potential fix | Confirm a Gopnik died airborne; follow the attempt checklist. |
| Quick save/load no longer available in Prasnova | Removed intentionally | Use the current supported save options; see save changes. |
| Epilogue logs no longer allow leaving the map | Listed as fixed | Use the intended ending route instead of the old shortcut. |
A potential fix is a reason to retest the same symptom after updating, not proof that every existing save was repaired. The dated update history preserves the announcement wording and earlier fixes.
Find your blocker without restarting the whole run
| Blocker | Check in order | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment panel will not advance | Electrical component fitted → four dial settings 2, 1, 3, 1 → elevator access | Apartment panel and key route |
| Connector door or next apartment exit is locked | A.96 kitchen key → crossing to Block B → B.95 windowsill key | A.96 and B.95 checkpoints |
| Factory card door will not open | Enter 45107 → collect finished card → use matching reader | Punch Card steps |
| Left the factory without Blowtorch | Check barrel after the card-door drop and the map pin before leaving the pickup area | Workshop exit and Blowtorch |
| Police Station cell stays shut | Select camera IV → set 001101 → check leftmost cell | Police Station puzzle |
| Boat objective will not complete | Check Air Filter, Toolbox and Boat Key; construction pump precedes the station | Boat repair checklist |
| Loaded gun fires once | Distinguish reload from preparing the next round | R versus Space controls |
If the item is stored, collect it before repeating the interaction. When an earlier checkpoint exists, compare its objective and inventory with the blocked state before loading. Use the save actions actually offered by your mode rather than assuming a manual slot can be created anywhere.
Inventory input fails after the factory machine
An October 6 player report describes inventory input stopping around the Punch Card office. First leave the machine or journal interface, move into a cleared area and retry inventory. If it opens there, return to the machine and check the finished-card pickup separately. If input stays disabled outside the interface, record whether pause, map and the journal still work.
Keep an existing pre-machine checkpoint if available. The report also describes door clipping; passing through the geometry is not evidence that the scripted door objective completed. These are diagnostic steps, not a reproduced repair of that player's save.
Backpack pickup did not increase space
Compare usable grid cells before and after a new backpack upgrade, not just the shape of the free space. Patch 1.03 added duplicate-upgrade protection, so another bag is not automatically another expansion. Install or move loose attachments before concluding that a large route item cannot fit. The backpack guide identifies the route landmarks; the inventory guide explains placement.
Older fixes that may explain a save or input problem
Patch 1.05 addressed elevator-load placement and input remaining disabled after leaving the elevator. It also corrected dropped-weapon magazine behavior and attempted a broader achievement fix. Patch 1.04 added Save & Quit and Workshop Key/Blowtorch map pins. Check those facts against the area and symptom rather than treating every Prasnova problem as the same bug.
For gamepad problems, start with Steam detection, then menus, inventory and weapon actions in the controller checklist. The October 17 release supersedes the old statement that support is only planned.
Send a useful technical report
Preserve the save and include: installed build, map area/room, objective text, exact key or tool carried, the last successful action, and the shortest steps that reproduce the failure. Add whether the save began before the update or from chapter select. A map-and-inventory capture makes a missing-item report much easier to distinguish from an award or input fault.
For a missing achievement, also record mode, modifiers and Steam connection state. Use the achievement guide or Red Express timing checks before repeating a complete run.
Verification and scope
October 17 announcement reviewed October 19, 2026, using its SteamDB transcript. Earlier patch notes and the October 6 report retain their original review context. The wiki has not reproduced every fault or tested recovery of an affected save; the tables connect documented symptoms to specific checks.
